Green, Red, Black Hand Marbled Paper

£10.00

I recently learnt a new bookbinding technique, ‘sewn boards binding’ which I absolutely love and have used in this A6 notebook.

With sewn boards binding the cover is made up of several layers sewn at the same time as the inner signatures (groups of folded papers). This gives the cover a slight puffiness and extra strength. This style of binding also allows the spine to move away from the book so that it can lie flat.

This book is made up of 24 pages (48 sides) of hand cut 270gsm cartridge paper, I have hand sewn this book using waxed Irish linen thread.

I have covered the notebook with some of my own hand marbled paper which is also 270gsm. The paper has been made using traditional marbling techniques with green, red and black marbling paint floating on carrageenan size. (the white is the paper showing through)

I have used green book cloth to cover the moveable spine and I have chosen green endpapers to match the marbled covers.

This notebook has been personally hand bound from start to finish, a true labour of love! I have finished the books by waxing the marbled covers with 'Renaissance Wax' (the same wax used by the British Library!)
