William Morris Fabric-Blue Peacock Design
William Morris was a celebrated 19th Century designer who pioneered the Victorian Arts and Crafts Movement. As well as being a textile designer, he was a poet, artist, novelist, translator and socialist activist.
Here I have used a cotton fabric blue peacock print as the basis for the bookcloth cover. This A5 notebook has a hardback case binding. I have hand sewn the signatures (groups of folded paper) with Irish linen thread giving 192 pages of 90gsm recycled paper. I chose mint green endpapers to match the cover and reinforced the spine hinges.
