With sewn boards binding the cover is made up of several layers sewn at the same time as the inner signatures (groups of folded papers). This gives the cover a slight puffiness and extra strength. This style of binding also allows the spine to move away from the book so that it can lie flat.
These books are made up of 48 pages of 120gsm cartridge paper, the quality of the paper make them perfect for sketching. I have hand sewn this book using waxed Irish linen thread.
I have covered the notebooks with some of my own handmade paste paper which is 270gsm. I have used a maroon red book cloth to cover the moveable spine and I have chosen dark blue endpapers to match the covers.
